LLANYSTUMDWY continued to experience barren times in the Cartrefi Cymunedol Gwynedd League as second-from-top visitors Gwalchmai registered a solid 5-2 away victory at Dwyfor Park.

Aled Jones’ young team were three goals down in the first half, as Gwalchmai extended their unbeaten run to six wins and three draws from nine matches.

The visitors made a flying start as Craig Evans and Kian Owen both scored in the opening five minutes, and Corey Sinnott extended their lead to 3-0 on 34 minutes.

Llanystumdwy’s Morgan Griffiths did score a reply five minutes into the second half, and later on Darren Parry provided their second goal with 15 minutes to go.

Evans, however, netted his second goal on 64 minutes and completed his hat-trick on 90 from a penalty, as the hosts’ winless run was stretched to 11 league games.

Waunfawr and Mynydd Tigers were involved a rousing 4-4 draw at the Aberforeshore ground, where the home side had edged a 2-1 advantage by the break.

On target for Waunfawr were Adam Jones on 18 minutes, Rhodri Owen on 31, Dafydd Evans on 46 and Kevin Barlow on 70, but they were matched by the visitors’ Mike Holroyd on 27 and 75, Mike Williams on 81 and Iwan Owen on 86.

• NEFYN United exacted revenge over Glantraeth, when they achieved a Gwynedd Cup second round win at their opponents’ ground by a 3-1 scoreline, to secure passage into the knockout’s semi-finals.

Nefyn opened their account on 43 minutes when Guto Roberts volleyed home from Llion Bryn Jones’s right-wing cross.

They doubled their lead on 64 minutes when a corner by Steve Jones reached Zac Allinson to score from close range, and then goal number three followed on 70 from Llion Jones, with a deflected header.

Glantraeth replied in the last minute when a penalty was awarded for a foul by Nefyn’s Guto Roberts, and Tim Evans’ spot-kick beat goalkeeper Ian Aikman.

Also in the cup, league leaders Menai Bridge Tigers were 4-2 conquerors of Llangoed, thanks to Harry Jones’s goal on 15 minutes, then Sam Roberts on 37, Kevin Roberts on 51 and an own-goal by opponent David Thomas on 69 minutes.

Llangoed had their replies from Charlie McKenna on 34 minutes and Thomas on 81, atoning for his earlier mistake.
