A CATALOGUE of Aberystwyth’s iconic former street signs has been released ahead of their sale at auction next weekend.

It was reported in the Cambrian News last month that the Friends of Ceredigion Museum group were to auction off the signs, which were replaced as part of the council’s urban regeneration project, as well as artworks and other items.

And now, a list of the 196 street plaques, which Ceredigion County Council kindly donated to the museum, has been published, which also includes 30 items of art and memorabilia which will be up for grabs on the night.

The auction will take place at Ceredigion Museum, The Coliseum, Terrace Road, at 7pm on Monday, 5 December, with the lots available to view at the museum from 1pm until 5pm on the same day.

And even if you don’t live in Aberystwyth and are unable to make it in person, there is still a chance for you to take part in the auction by filling out a proxy bid form, which will stipulate your maximum bid for an item.

To obtain a proxy bid form, please e-mail Orian Hopkin at [email protected]; and return it by Wednesday, 30 November.

The catalogue can be found at www.ceredigion.gov.uk/index.cfm?articleid=1110.
