Armed police officers were sent to Aberystwyth town centre yesterday evening following reports of a man hanging out of a window with a gun, it has been revealed.

Dyfed-Powys Police told people to avoid Alexandra Road on Thursday evening following reports of a man with a firearm in a window overlooking Terrace Road – which turned out to be a BB gun.

In a statement released this morning, Dyfed-Powys Police said: “At around 5.30pm on Thursday, 27 May, we received reports of a male hanging out of a window overlooking Terrace Road, Aberystwyth, with a firearm in his hands.

“Officers, including an armed response team, attended and identified the property, before arresting two males.

“The road was closed while officers brought the incident to a close.

“Officers recovered a BB gun and a small quantity of cannabis from the property.

“One of the males has been released under investigation, while the second was released and will face no further action at this time.

“No-one was hurt during the incident.”
