A MOTORCYCLIST who died following a collision on the A470 has been named.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the fatal collision on Sunday, 12 November.

At 3.22pm, North Wales Police received a report from the Ambulance Service of a one-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle near Dinas Mawddwy.

An air ambulance and emergency services attended the scene but, sadly, the motorcyclist, named as 51-year-old Robert Neil Patterson of Rhos-on-Sea, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed.

Sergeant Steve Richards of the Roads Policing Unit said: “Our thoughts very much remain with the man’s family at this time. We are appealing for witnesses to this collision and anybody who may have information is asked to contact us.

“The motorcyclist, who was riding on a black Honda motorcycle, was travelling along the A470 towards the Dolgellau area, therefore we are appealing for anybody who may have dash cam footage from their vehicles to contact us.”

The road remained closed for several hours and diversions were in place.

A spokesperson for the Welsh Ambulance Service told the Cambrian News: “We were called at shortly before 3.20pm on Sunday to reports of a road traffic collision on the A470 near Dinas Mawddwy.

“We sent the Wales Air Ambulance and two crews in emergency ambulances to the scene.”
