A BLAENAU Ffestiniog teacher and his TV presenter brother have admitted child porn charges.

Dyfan Wheldon-Williams, 42, a teacher at Blaenau Ffestiniog, admitted three offences.

These offences involved having 40 indecent images of youngsters between April 2011 and May 2015, making child porn, and possessing extreme porn featuring people with dogs.

His brother, Dr Robyn Wheldon-Williams, 39, a chemistry teacher at a Caernarfon secondary school, admitted having 1,399 indecent images of children and 78 movies between January 2007 and May last year.

Entering guilty pleas to eight charges at Caernarfon Crown Court, he accepted making child porn including of the most serious type.

The pair, of Bontnewydd, Caernarfon, were remanded on conditional bail until 8 July for pre-sentence reports.

At a previous hearing the prosecution said computer equipment had been seized after a search of their home.

S4C programme presenter Dr Robyn Wheldon-Williams had a world record for enclosing the most people in a bubble. Now he and his brother must register as sex offenders.

Judge Rhys Rowlands said their guilty pleas would “attract credit” when they were sentenced but there was a “significant” number of category A images - the most serious - in the younger brother’s case and the starting point for him was jail.

Judge Rowlands warned the defendants :”Both of you must be prepared for all potential sentences when you return to court.”

A Gwynedd Council spokesperson confirmed that the brothers no longer worked at schools in the county.

The spokesperson said: “Two former members of the authority’s teaching staff have pleaded guilty to offences relating to possession and making of indecent images of children. The offences do not relate to their work for the authority.

“When the allegations were brought to the council’s attention, all relevant child protection procedures were followed, and the members of staff were suspended from their posts.”
