POLICE are investigating after the bodies of a man and a woman were found on the coastal path in Ceredigion.

The bodies of the couple, who had earlier been reported as missing, were found near New Quay on Wednesday following a search by police, Coastguard and lifeboat crews.

The deaths are being treated by police as "unexplained".

A police statement said: “Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating the sudden deaths of two people, whose bodies were found on the coastal path near New Quay on the evening of Wednesday, 4 April.

“The man and woman had been reported missing earlier in the day.

"Next of kin have been informed, and our thoughts are with the families at this time. The deaths are being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances.”
