A BODY has been found during a search of a fire-ravaged hotel on Aberystwyth seafront.

Three children and nine adults had to be rescued in the early hours of Wednesday, 25 July, by firefighters after a blaze ripped through the Ty Belgrave House on Marine Terrace, while one Lithuanian man was unaccounted for.

With the building “structurally unsafe”, a search of the hotel could not begin until last week.

Today, officers found the remains of a man during the delayed search.

While the remains have not been identified, the family of the missing Lithuanian man have been informed.

Ceredigion coroner Peter Brunton has been informed of the death and a Home Office post mortem has been arranged, police said.

Police said they were “in consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service over this development”.

Police said that the search of the hotel, and an investigation into the fire, is continuing.
