The body of a missing man has been found.

Cemlyn Hughes, from Blaenau Ffestiniog, had been missing since Saturday.

North Wales Police launched an appeal to find the 29-year-old, but the search ended in tragedy.

A police spokesperson said: "Following our recent appeal for information regarding the whereabouts of 29-year-old Cemlyn Hughes of Blaenau Ffestiniog, officers received a call from a member of the public at 8.31am yesterday (Wednesday).

"Sadly, upon attendance, the body of Mr Hughes was recovered from the river in Blaenau Ffestiniog.

"The local coroner’s office has been informed and a Home Office postmortem will be carried out in due course."
