A BODY has been recovered from the sea approximately four miles off the Aberystwyth coast this morning, the Cambrian News understands.

It is not believed to be connected to yesterday’s incident, in which a man died after two people were pulled from the water by Aberystwyth RNLI Lifeboat when a member of the public saw an empty boat circling off Aberystwyth South Beach and raised the alarm.

Aberystwyth RNLI Lifeboat say a fishing vessel reported a casualty in the water around four miles off the coast of Aberystwyth at 7am this morning.

The RNLI did not confirm whether the casualty was alive but said they responded and brought the casualty back to the lifeboat station.

A police spokesperson said: "Dyfed-Powys Police can confirm a body of a male has been recovered from water between Aberystwyth and Borth this morning (Thursday, 1 September). Enquiries are being made to identify the male."
