A St Dogmaels councillor has spoken of her shock after vandals wrecked wooden fencing at a community garden.
Police have now installed CCTV at Alexandra Gardens in a bid to combat antisocial behaviour and criminal damage in the area.
The move comes after community council chairperson Jo Hutchings said the authority was facing a possible repair bill of around £2,000 following the attack.
Officers are now seeking vandals who destroyed around 15 metres of fencing sometime between 4 and 11 April.
“We’ve had sporadic pockets of vandalism and antisocial behaviour in the past but nothing like on this scale,” Cllr Hutchings told the Cambrian News.
“Two areas of fencing have been vandalised and in one part of the park bushes now disguise a nasty drop. Those responsible could have been kids from the village, kids from Cardigan or kids who have come down here for the Easter holidays – we just don’t know.
“We don’t want to stop youngsters enjoying themselves, we just want them to stop damaging things that other people have to pay for.
“The community council will now have to fork out for this damage, yet we have a limited budget and this is cash we can ill-afford to spend.
“As a result of this vandalism we may find we are unable to pay for the village fireworks later in the year."
