Three mid Wales towns will see CCTV cameras return to their streets after new plans by the police and crime commissioner were unveiled this week.

Lampeter, Newcastle Emlyn and Machynlleth will have CCTV cameras reinstated in the coming months as part of a project to reintroduce cameras in seven towns across the Dyfed-Powys region.

Police and crime commissioner Dafydd Llywelyn had made reinstating CCTV a priority and said: "Since I made the pledge to reinstate and reinvest in CCTV in the Dyfed-Powys area, I have made it my mission to see it become a reality.

"From meeting and discussing CCTV with stakeholders and the public over the last year we were aware there were other towns in the force that could really do with CCTV and thankfully, the budget is allowing us to include seven new towns in this final installation stage."
