A CHEF who exposed himself to a woman at a Dwyfor caravan park was told by a magistrate that his actions were ‘disgusting and obscene’.

David Campbell, 59, of Tal y Fan Fair, Abersoch, pleaded guilty to the exposure which occurred nearly three years ago.

Caernarfon magistrates court heard how there was CCTV footage of the incident which showed Campbell at one stage using the woman’s scarf during his lewd behaviour.

Prosecutor Mel Hughes told the court that Campbell had been sacked and the victim thought she would never come into contact with him again.

However, after being informed he was in the area it was heard that she felt uneasy he had returned and decided to report the incident to the police.

Mr Hughes said she no longer felt safe in her home.

Campbell said he couldn’t explain his conduct to police and was apologetic.

Defence solicitor, Carys Parry said Campbell was ‘deeply and genuinely ashamed’ over his actions and that he hadn’t moved from the area after the incident.

The solicitor added: “It’s a strange offence. Mr Campbell is at a loss to explain why he did this. It does seem to be a one-off.”

Court chairman, Alwyn Lloyd Ellis at Caernarfon told Campbell: “Your actions were both disgusting and obscene and caused considerable distress and long-lasting effect to the victim. Custody has been considered seriously but because of your lack of previous convictions and early guilty plea, we follow the recommendations in the pre-sentence report.”

He was ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work, a rehabilitation activity, pay £500 compensation and £145 costs.

An indefinite restraining order was made and he must register as a sex offender for five years.
