A CRICCIETH woman is supporting calls for victims of sexual assaults in north Wales to come forward after speaking out over her own abuse ordeal.

Last year Nesdi Aneurin Jones, 23, bravely waived her anonymity and told the Cambrian News of the abuse she suffered, at only seven-years-old, at the hands of paedophile Bob Owen, of Penrhyndeudraeth, who is now serving a 14-year sentence in prison.

Nesdi, who is a singer and has had a number one single on the BBC Asian Network, is now supporting calls from the North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner, Arfon Jones, who is urging those who have been victims of sexual abuse to come forward, no matter how many years ago the attacks happened.

She said: “I fully support these calls from our Police and Crime Commissioner.

“The authorities are on the side of the victims and there are many different types of support that can make you feel comfortable.

“Time isn’t an issue, it took me years to speak out but I finally got justice.

“Speaking out is the first and most difficult step, but once I did, a massive weight was lifted and my life has come together so much.

“Don’t do what I did and feel defeated because you’ve done nothing wrong.”
