A GLEAMING new rescue pump is now on firefighting duty in Tregaron.
The keys were formally presented to watch manager Aled Lewis by Cllr Rowland Rees-Evans, chair of the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Authority.
There was also a blessing of the new Volvo appliance by Canon Illtyd Protheroe, chaplain to the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service.
Mr Lewis said: “We are delighted to receive this new rescue pump to Tregaron Fire Station.
“This is an outstanding vehicle and demonstrates the commitment of Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service to provide only the best equipment to protect our communities.
“It is an honour to serve the community of Tregaron as an on-call firefighter, it is a career that places you at the heart of the community. If you would like to help serve the community of Tregaron and the surrounding area; live within 10 minutes of the fire station and are reasonably fit and healthy, then call in during one of our drill nights, every Monday night, or call our recruitment team on 01267 226832?.”
Temporary assistant chief officer Kevin Jones said: “To best protect our communities, we must ensure that our firefighters are well-equipped, well-trained and well-motivated to carry out their work."
