Police in Pwllheli have been granted a dispersal order following a rise in antisocial behaviour and violence in the town.

The order will come into effect for 48 hours from 2pm today.

North Wales Police said the order had been prompted by incidents of antisocial behaviour and disorder/violence amongst youths in Pwllheli.

It has been granted to try to limit further issues for residents.

NWP say anyone who is asked to leave the area by a police officer must do so. Returning to the area may result in arrest.

Police are also asking parents to be aware of where their children are, and to tell them about this order.

District Inspector Lisa Jones said: "We are committed to ensure the actions of a disorderly minority do not affect our community, and we will not tolerate behaviour which brings misery to our residents.

"This is one of a number of measures at our disposal, and our officers will be visibly patrolling in the area throughout the dispersal period. I would like to thank the local community for your continued support."
