A driver had to be rescued from his car after it came off the road and landed upside down in Talyllyn lake.

During the afternoon of Friday, 23 August police, paramedics and the fire service were called to the scene of a one-vehicle incident which left a car submerged in the lake near the B4405 road.

The nearby road was closed in both directions, causing delays, as firefighters carried out a rescue of the man trapped inside the vehicle.

Wales Air Ambulance was also called to the scene to assist.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that they had attended the scene, bringing crews from Aberdyfi and Dolgellau, who attended at 12.22pm.

Firefighters rescued the man who was in the vehicle in the lake and he was taken to hospital via road ambulance.

This was the second call of the day for emergency services on this usually quiet road.

At around 10am, two cars were in collision between Tywyn and Bryncrug.

One man was taken to hospital following the incident, after being cut from his car via the roof by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, having suffered suspected back injuries.
