THE mother of a six-year-old girl who died after choking on a grape has relived the moment medics told her there was nothing more they could do.

Jasmine Lapsley, from Anfield in Liverpool, was on holiday in Morfa Nefyn with her parents Robert and Kathleen Lapsley in August 2014.

Mrs Lapsley told an inquest in Caernarfon how Jasmine started choking on a grape she was eating and how there was panic as they tried to get her to spit it out.

Mr Lapsley told the inquest how he slapped his daughter on the back numerous times to no avail.

He also told of the desperate efforts of an off-duty police officer and paramedics to help Jasmine.

Mrs Lapsley relived the tragic moment when medics told her there was nothing more they could do.

Jasmine died later after she was airlifted by helicopter to Ysbyty Gwynedd.

The Deputy Coroner for North Wales West, Nicola Jones, told the family that the purpose of the inquest was to find out how the young girl died and did anyone contribute to her death.

The inquest is expected to last two weeks.
