Former North Wales Police officer DC Thomas Coppack has been sentenced for assault.

He was sentenced on 13 August to 18 months imprisonment suspended for 18 months, made the subject of a rehabilitation order, must undertake 80hrs unpaid work and pay £1,000 costs. The court also imposed a three-year restraining order.

Deputy Chief Constable Nigel Harrison said the former officer will now be subject to a misconduct hearing, adding: “As I have previously stated, this type of conduct can seriously undermine public trust and confidence, but I hope this case demonstrates to victims of violence against women and girls (VAWG) that when they come forward, they will be listened to and supported.

“We will not shy away from prosecuting those that commit such crimes.”
