A HUGE blaze has scorched over 15,000 square metres of land at a beauty spot on the Llyn Peninsula.

The inferno, visible from miles around, took hold on the Llanbedrog headland near Abersoch on Monday night.

Phill Boyd, who caught the blaze on camera, said: “Lucky there were light winds otherwise the fire would have spread much quicker; credit to the fire crews who were on scene almost immediately.”

Fire crews were still tending to the fire late on Tuesday nearly 24 hours after it was first reported.
