A WALKER had to be airlifted to hospital after suffering a ‘broken leg’ whilst climbing Cader Idris over the weekend.
Rescuers from Aberdyfi Search & Rescue were called to reports of a man with a broken leg at around 4.30pm on Sunday, 29 August.
The man has been out walking with his family when he slipped, injuring his knee, leaving him unable to walk.
The rescue team scoured the area after not initially being able to specifically locate the injured man.
They quickly found him on open ground beyond the top of the Minffordd steps.
As the man was assessed, more team volunteers brought up equipment in anticipation of the difficult evacuation.
The Coastguard rescue helicopter 187 based at St Athan was called and winched the injured man to safety before transporting him to Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth for further assessment and treatment.
Everyone was safely off the hill by 8pm.
