A LLYN man has been jailed for 16 weeks after assaulting a member of his extended family.

Colin Lee Williams, 30, of Ceiri Terrace, Llanaelhaearn, was found guilty of assaulting a young woman – described by the judge as being a member of his extended family – when already serving a suspended sentence. District Judge Gwyn Jones at Caernarfon court on Thursday told Williams: “It’s clear you were significantly under the influence of drink.”

The judge imposed a restraining order not to contact Sioned Eleri Jones and not to pass on the pavement outside her home at Pwllheli.

Diane Williams, prosecuting, said Williams had punched her in the mouth, then he threw a can which hit another man in the face in the incident at her Pwllheli home. Williams was “very drunk.”

He’d denied a charge of common assault on Sioned Eleri Jones, but had been found guilty by magistrates. A probation officer told the judge on Thursday that Williams still maintained his innocence.
