A man who launched an online appeal for the return of his kayak which was taken in Barmouth has said it has now been found.
Aeron Griffith’s kayak was taken on the evening of Tuesday, 10 December from outside his brother’s house in Heol Meirion.
Mr Griffith appealed for help on social media to find the kayak - which he said was taken from his brother’s shed - and those responsible for taking it.
Appealing to the public for help, Mr Griffith said he was looking for a van which drove out of Barmouth at 5pm in the direction of Harlech.
Speaking to the Cambrian News, Mr Griffith said: “I saw a van drive past a job I was working on and saw the kayak hanging out the back. I couldn’t make out the registration plate but the kayak was the same as mine.
“Other people saw the van with the kayak in the back. I went down to my brother’s house. The chain and padlock had been cut off and the kayak was gone.”
He said the kayak has been found after an attempt to sell it on.
Mr Griffith said: “I had a call from a guy who said he had the kayak and it was sold to him from a guy on a bicycle. He said he had seen my post on Facebook and wanted to return the kayak to me.”
A spokesperson for North Wales Police said they were investigating the theft.
“We were called at 5.33pm on Tuesday, 10 December regarding the theft of a kayak from a private address in the Heol Meirion area of Barmouth,” the spokesperson said.
“Our investigations are currently ongoing, and if anyone has any information that may help us, they should call 101 quoting ref X177854.”
