POLICE have this afternoon confirmed that a man missing since Sunday after being swept off rocks at Mwnt is from the West Midlands.
The search for the missing 23-year-old man was called off this morning following three days of extensive searches by emergency services.
The man, who has not been named, is understood to have been cut off by the tide while walking with another man before being swept of rocks and into the sea, according to coastguards.
Both Cardigan lifeboats, which had been taking part in the station’s well-attended open day, were immediately diverted to the choppy seas off Mwnt and were said to have arrived on the scene within minutes.
Yet, despite an extensive search which also involved coastguard teams and a rescue helicopter, the man, who is not believed to be local, had still not been found by yesterday morning (Tuesday), and the search was eventually called off.
