A FORMER Barmouth man has been sent to jail after he was found with more than 12,000 indecent images of children.

Wayne Beesley (pictured), 39, of Brookfield Close, Weston Rhyn, Oswestry, was convicted of three charges relating to possessing and making indecent images of children at Shrewsbury Crown Court last week.

He had previously admitted three separate charges of making indecent images of children.

The Cambrian News understands that Beesley attended Ysgol Ardudwy when he was growing up.

The jury convicted Beesley of making 101 indecent images of children in category A – the most serious – and two separate charges of taking an indecent photograph of a child, namely a category C moving image.

The charges admitted prior to trial were of making an indecent photo of a child in category C, making an indecent photo of a child with 85 images in Category B, and making indecent photos of a child with 11,873 in category C.

The images were found when police visited his home on 5 December 2016. Police also discovered two videos on his mobile phone in which he had recorded two children.

The court heard that the children were clothed and that the videos had been almost immediately deleted but that they had not been appropriate.

Sentencing, Judge Jonathan Gosling said computer records showed that Beesley had specifically entered search terms to gain access to the most serious types of images.

Beesley was sentenced to a total of 30 months in prison and was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for life.

He was also made subject of an indefinite sexual harm prevention order which restricts his possession of devices that can access the internet or take photos.

He will also not be allowed to have unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16.
