A 38-year-old man was arrested after he was found camping on a beach near to Aberdaron.

North Wales Police said, following community concerns raised to the local policing team, a man from Liverpool was found camping on Porth Oer (Whistling Sands) on Sunday.

They added: “The man was found to be in breach of his court bail conditions and then also resisted arrest.

“He was taken to the Caernarfon Custody Suite and will appear before magistrates, charged with resisting arrest.”

DI Matt Geddes said: “The Gwynedd South team have been out over the weekend conducting road checks and premises checks in support of the government restrictions in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“These checks will continue, so think carefully before travelling and be prepared for your local policing team to ask you what you’re up to.

“The above incident is an isolated one, and the overwhelming majority of people we have had contact with are not only complying with the restrictions, but are both understanding and supportive of our actions when stopped and spoken to.”
