A MACHYNLLETH man has been arrested after shots were fired from an air gun at New Year’s Eve revellers in the town which left one man hospitalised and another two injured.

A 27-year-old was arrested on suspicion of assault.

The three men were injured while walking in Maengwyn Street after shots were fired from an air gun from a property in the street.

One man received hospital treatment for his injuries and had to have a pellet removed from his body. It is understood he has now been released from hospital.

Pc Gareth Watkins, who is investigating the incident said: “I would like to reassure the community that this is a rare occurrence in this area.

“A male has been arrested and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.”

An investigation is continuing.
