A MAN accused of biting his girlfriend and threatening to kill her at a Pwllheli holiday camp will be sentenced by a crown court judge, magistrates have decided.
Jamie Red Hanley, 25, of Lorenzo Drive, Liverpool, appeared in custody before magistrates at Caernarfon after being arrested following the attack at the Hafan y Môr holiday park, near Pwllheli, on Friday night.
He pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm and two charges of possessing small amounts of cocaine and cannabis.
Prosecutor Justin Espie said Hanley’s partner, Clare Leith, woke up on the floor of a caravan with Hanley’s foot on her neck and he was punching her.
“She was unconscious for a time and cannot remember the entire incident, but she recalls being punched.
“During the assault Hanley grabbed her by the hair and said ‘you’re going to die’ over and over again.
“She was able to escape from the caravan and ran outside.
“Witnesses told police officers later they heard the victim screaming and in a high level of distress. When they saw her she was covered in bite marks and was badly bruised,” said Mr Espie.
The prosecutor added that Hanley and Miss Leith had been in an “abusive” relationship for about two years.
“It was not the victim’s first beating, but this was by far the worst. She thought he was going to kill her,” he said.
His lawyer said Hanley did not dispute the prosecution case, but argued that the victim was not badly hurt.
The defendant was said to be remorseful.
There was no application for bail.
Hanley was remanded in custody until 28 October at Caernarfon crown court.
