A MAN who turned up at the house of his mother’s former friend armed with a wrench has appeared in court.
Jamie Benedikti, 30, pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon and using threatening behaviour towards Alison Ramsden and her partner John Roberts.
Last month his mother Erika Benedikti, 51, was ordered to do unpaid work for harassment.
On Friday, prosecutor Mel Hughes told magistrates at Caernarfon how on the night of 18 October, Jamie Benedikti turned up outside Miss Ramsden’s home near Pwllheli.
Mr Hughes explained to the court how Alison Ramsden alleged his mother had caused her “nothing but upset and grief”.
Miss Ramsden said she had been “petrified and panicking” when Jamie Benedikti, of nearby Llithfaen, turned up at Morfa Nefyn.
“I thought he might kill us,” she said.
Court chairwoman Ffion Jones told him: “This is a serious offence which has caused a lot of fear for the victims and wider public in the area.”
He was ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work and given a restraining order - to last indefinitely - was imposed banning contact with the victims.
Benedikti must also pay £170 costs.
The prosecution said Mr Roberts described how he was told Erika’s son was outside the property. “I saw a male standing by the side of a VW Polo parked outside my address. He was bouncing up and down on his toes,” he maintained. He brandished the weapon, the court heard.
Another frightened eyewitness said Benedikti “was acting like a maniac”.
Police were called and later seized an extendable wrench.
Benedikti, an unemployed lorry driver, had driven from the scene after realising the “folly” of his actions, his solicitor said. The defendant had no previous record.
Bethan Williams, defending, said: “He’s made a bad decision on this day and during this incident that suddenly dawned on him.”
The incident lasted up to 10 minutes.
He used the wrench for his car wheel and possession of it had been legitimate at first.
“I have to accept he had it in his hand when he was standing in the street in a public place making threatening gestures and words.
He didn’t enter on to the property,” the lawyer said.
“It’s an incident which took place after he had been drawn into the middle of the issue between his mother and the lady in the property. He snapped. He made a very foolish decision which he now acknowledges and wishes to apologise.”
