COUNCILLORS have discussed issues on the presence of police in Cardigan town centre, vehicles displaying single headlights, CCTV cameras, night-time economy, graffiti, rowdiness outside licensed premises and underage drinking.
Cardigan-based police inspector Christina Fraser met Cardigan town councillors last week.
Inspector Fraser stated that 295 incidents were reported in Cardigan during 2015 – 20 per cent of those recorded referred to the safety and welfare of the population.
She added that 29 per cent were related to crime, with 88 incidents occurring in the town centre consisting of criminal damage.
Insp Fraser said it was hoped to create more interest and drive up attendances for PACT meetings which, she said, were “excellent outlets” for the public to vent their concerns.
PCSO Siân Clarke had given the Over-50 Fraud Talk to various groups, with sound advice to combat computer fraud and online and telephone bullying.
