A man in his seventies from the Aberystwyth area is believed to have had a miraculous escape when his car plunged 100 feet down a cliff at Strumble Head in Pembrokeshire last week.

He was released from the wrecked vehicle following a rescue operation by emergency services and subsequently taken to Fishguard aboard the RNLI lifeboat which had attended the scene.

“How he got out of that in one piece, God only knows,” commented one onlooker.

Police and paramedics were also present along with four fire appliances, while a rescue helicopter stood by.

The car was found at the foot of a cliff at around 10.30am last Friday.

It is believed the pensioner,who is not being named by police, suffered a broken arm in the incident.
