Barmouth RNLI have attended their third callout in six days following reports of an inflatable drifting out to sea.

At 1.12pm yesterday, Sunday, the volunteer crew of Kyle Smith, Paul Williams and Dan Cartwright launched to a report of a person or people on board the inflatable, drifting out to sea.

On arriving at the scene they found a kayaker had been picked up by a local ferry boat, but the boat experienced engine failure.

The lifeboat towed the ferry to the harbour steps where the casualty was put into the care of the harbour master.

On Thursday at 2.30pm, the lifeboat launched to a report of a windsurfer in the water off Fairbourne beach, holding onto his board, fatigued and unable to climb back on.

The crew located a windsurfer on Fairbourne beach who turned out to be the friend who raised the alarm. He directed the crew to where his friend was last seen.

The volunteer crew of Kyle Smith, Alex Hill and Rob Williams at helm started a parallel track search off Barmouth beach.

They were notified the casualty had been located safely on the beach. The lifeboat crew located and recovered the windsurfer’s sail at sea.

At 4.22pm on Monday, 31 August, Barmouth lifeboat crew received a call alerting them to a number of people cut off by the tide on the sandbank opposite the boathouse.

The members of the public, under guidance from the volunteer crew, made their way back to the shore.

Coxswain Rob Williams said safety advice was offered to approximately 30 members of the public, some heading out to the perch on an incoming tide.

The lifeboat returned to the boathouse and was readied for service at 5.25pm.
