AN indebted mother has thanked the Community First Responder team who treated her little girl after she badly injured herself falling off a bike.

Glyn Jones, of Barmouth Community First Responders, was first to the scene when five-year-old Izzy took a tumble whilst holidaying at Trawsdir Caravan Park, Llanaber.

Concussed and bruised, and with a broken hand and grazes across her face, Izzy was in urgent need of medical care.

Almost as soon as her parents had called for the emergency services, Glyn arrived and began treating the girl before she was rushed to hospital by ambulance.

Izzy’s mother Gaby Lou was grateful for the community first responder’s professionalism.

“My five-year-old daughter fell off her bike on the first day of our camping trip,” she explained.

“My husband initially dialled 111 to find out the nearest hospital but following that call Glyn soon arrived followed about 15 minutes later by an ambulance on blues.

“Initially my daughter appeared very confused and disoriented. Once Glyn arrived she had fallen asleep so I was a little apprehensive as to how she’d be when I woke her up with a complete stranger stood in our tent.

“Immediately on her waking Glyn reassured her and talked to her explaining who he was and what was happening. She immediately took to him and let him examine her.

“He talked to her about his dog Stan who was waiting for him in his car and she talked a bit about our dogs.

“Once the ambulance arrived he relayed all the information to them, it was decided she needed to go in the ambulance to Bangor to be checked over in A and E. Unfortunately I didn’t get chance to say a massive thank you to him before he left.

“So, thank you very much Glyn.

“She’s come off relatively unscathed, with concussion, lots of grazing to her face and knee and a broken hand.

“She’s made an amazing recovery in such a short space of time and that’s due in part to the Barmouth Community First Responder’s actions.”
