THE family of Tracy Cockrell, who was murdered at a remote farm near Machynlleth, have started a campaign to raise £1,000 to take her home and pay for a gravestone.

The body of 51-year-old Tracy Cockrell was found at Gelli in Cwm Ffrydlan, just outside Llanwrin on Sunday, 10 April. Another body, that of Nigel McGrath, 45, was also discovered.

Police launched a murder investigation into the death of grandmother-of-seven Ms Cockrell - but officers have said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with her death after the discovery of Mr McGrath’s body during a search of the property.

Now the family of Ms Cockrell in Yorkshire have set up a crowdfunding page to raise £1,000 to “bring her back home”.

Ms Cockrell’s son, Michael Johnson, said on the site: “Due to tragic circumstances my mum’s life was cut short when she was murdered recently in Wales and the family are trying to raise funds to bring her back home to Leeds where she belongs with her family and are trying to raise funds also for a new headstone for her shared grave with her daughter.”

Police have not released details of how the couple, who moved to the area from Yorkshire last year, died - but are not treating Mr McGrath’s death as suspicious.

Tributes to Ms Cockrell, who leaves behind four children, four sisters and a brother, were left on Facebook and social media by family and friends including her daughter Adele Johnson and other son Garry Johnson.
