LAMPETER Inspector has set the record straight regarding mid Ceredigion’s Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Lampeter Inspector Matthew Howells said there is still a Neighbourhood Policing Team consisting of three police officers and nine Police and Community Support Officers (PCSOs).

Insp Howells said: “Reports of our Neighbourhood Policing Team being disbanded are false. There will no longer be a dedicated sergeant for the team, but that will in no way affect the proactive policing work carried out by the NPT officers and PCSOs.

“Members of the public will not experience any change in the current level of police service they receive. Changes have been made to the physical location of police officers in the early hours of the morning meaning the police stations are not physically occupied by officers.

“Changes in policing in structure and our use of technology make the physical occupation of police stations less important than it used to be.”
