AN "iconic" Welsh memorial on the A487 has been defaced with graffiti once again.
MS Elin Jones was swift to denounce the latest attack on the Cofiwch Dryweryn - Remember Tryweryn - graffiti mural on the A487 above Llanrhystud - in which a swastika and another sign were daubed on the monument.
“Police are aware of the swastika on the Cofiwch Dryweryn wall,” she tweeted “If you have information, tell the police. This is not a prank - it is sinister and dangerous.”
Nathan Goss, the Aberarth-based heritage consultant leading on the wall consolidation project, was similarly appalled.
“I think that it’s a crying shame that this truly iconic piece of Welsh heritage has been defaced once again,” he told the Cambrian News.
It is the latest in a series of attacks on the monument which marks the flooding of the Tryweryn Valley in the 1960s to create the Llyn Celyn reservoir.
Back in April 2019 Dyfed-Powys Police revealed they were treating an apparent attempt to knock the wall down as a hate crime, but the monument has been repeatedly targeted since then.
