TWO police community support officers in Dwyfor and Meirionnydd have been honoured by the High Sheriff of Gwynedd.

During an annual awards ceremony held at Caernarfon Crown Court PCSO Elizabeth Jones, of Pwllheli, and PCSO Darren Walters of Barmouth, received praise for their work from the High Sheriff of Gwynedd, Dr Elizabeth Andrews MBE DL.

The pair were nominated by senior officers from North Wales Police as well as the local community the winners received a certificate commending them for their hard work and dedication to the communities they serve.

PCSO Jones, who is based at Pwllheli Police Station, was nominated following her innovative approach to addressing issues surrounding juvenile anti-social behaviour with her ‘Chwarae’n Wirion’ project.

PCSO Walters, who is based at Barmouth, has worked hard to establish and maintain community engagement opportunities, focusing his attention on things that work for the community.

An example of this has been his regular visits to the high school where he has held surgeries and linked in with the pupils.
