PEOPLE are being advised to avoid an area of Cardigan following a chemical spill.

Emergency services are currently on the scene at Morgan Street in Cardigan and say they are dealing with a ‘small chemical spill’.

They are advising people to avoid the area.

In a statement, Dyfed Powys Police said: “There’s currently a large emergency service presence at Morgan Street, Cardigan, who are dealing with a small chemical spill.

“The liquid is no longer leaking, however the fire service is at the scene as a precaution.

“A specialist chemical unit is also on its way, as a precaution.

“The driver of the lorry carrying the chemical has become mildly unwell after coming in to contact with the substance, but has been checked by paramedics and does not need further treatment.

“There’s not thought to be a risk to the public, however, if you have been in the area and become unwell, please seek appropriate medical advice.”
