THREE people have been airlifted to hospital after a horror car crash.
Two air ambulances were required following the accident on the B4391 near Bala on Saturday afternoon.
The incident, at Pont Cwm Pydew between Bala and Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant, at just after 5pm, required firefighters from Bala to use cutting equipment to free three people trapped in two vehicles following the collision.
Three people were taken by air ambulance to the Royal Stoke University Hospital and another was taken by ambulance to Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
The road was closed for several hours before reopening.
Just hours before, another collision saw two cars badly damaged on the A470 near Trawsfynydd, a road currently under review by the Welsh Government for improved safety measures following a series of accidents in the area.
Emergency crews were alerted to the incident on the A470 at about 2.45pm.
They found both vehicles off the road and on the grass verge of the road. A third vehicle suffered minor damage.
Police closed the road for nearly three hours.
