LAMPETER police are hunting vandals who damaged the roof of the town’s Co-op supermarket as well as targeting a van in the store’s car park and a car parked in a nearby garage.
It is understood that the vehicle, which had been parked at the nearby Brondeifi Garage ahead of its MOT, had its wing mirrors and side windows smashed.
Officers have confirmed that around the same time, intruders forced entry into a warehouse at the Co-op and damaged a number of food stock items.
A worker at the Co-op, who did not want to be named, said: “They seem to have jumped over the river, gained access to the warehouse through the roof, ripped down our new Co-op logo and basically used it to smash in the windows of the car.
“But they walked right past the CCTV cameras so hopefully that’ll give the police something to go on.
“This is the kind of unfortunate thing that happens when you get bored youngsters who perhaps have used alcohol to give themselves some bravado.
“We’re now just waiting to hear back from the police.”
A police spokesperson confirmed they were investigating reports of criminal damage.
“The incidents are currently being treated as linked,” she added.
“Anyone with information that could help the investigations is asked to contact Lampeter police on 101.”
