POLICE officers from Ceredigion have been honoured with medals for long service during a special ceremony.
Twenty police officers, staff and PCSOs were saluted at the ceremony at police headquarters in Carmarthen.
Several officers who have Ceredigion links were among those to receive recognition.
They included PC Jason Edwards, who is from Cardigan and was a member of the Ceredigion Roads Policing Unit before joining the Joint Firearms Training Unit at Bridgend; and Sgt Philip Edwards, who joined Dyfed-Powys Police in 1998 and was stationed at both Aberystwyth, Aberaeron and Lampeter before working in Aberystwyth Custody and then taking over a similar role in Newtown.
Det Chief Insp Anthony Evans is the current detective chief inspector for the Ceredigion division and was honoured for his work during the April Jones murder investigation in Machynlleth in 2012.
There were also medals for former Lampeter officer Andrew King, who now works in Carmarthen, and current Temporary Inspector Richard Lewis, who now works in Pembrokeshire, but started his career with the police force at Cardigan in 1997 before working in Cardigan CID and the Aberystwyth proactive team.
Chief Constable Mark Collins said: “The police service is a true vocation and the achievement of all the award recipients was a reminder of their hard work and commitment in safeguarding our communities."
