POLICE have told residents of Penparcau to “take basic security measures seriously” after a spate of burglaries.
Officers are investigating three burglaries in the area over a 10-day span between Sunday, 9 October and Wednesday, 19 October, but have moved to reassure residents that catching the culprits is a “priority”.
Police said that a number of items were taken during the burglaries including a “small amount of cash”, and are appealing for information.
The first incident occurred sometime between 2am and 10.30am on Sunday, 9 October at a property in Penrheidol.
A second burglary took place at a property on Fifth Avenue sometime between 8.30pm on Friday, 14 October and 8.15am on Saturday, 15 October.
The latest burglary occurred in the Penrheidol area at around 5.30am on Wednesday, 19 October.
Detectives have launched an investigation, and are understood to be treating the incidents as linked.
DS Gareth Jones said: “We’d like to reassure the community that enquiries into these burglaries are a priority, and we ask anybody who has witnessed any suspicious activity, or has any information that could help the police investigation to contact police immediately.
“In the meantime we are urging residents to be alert and take basic security measures seriously and to ensure that all doors, windows and external gates are secured.”
