PEOPLE are being asked to avoid the High Street in Tremadog and keep their windows and doors closed as firefighters tackle a blaze.

Fire crews were called to the scene at 11.23am today following a fire at a garden centre in Tremadog.

Crews from across north are still on the scene tackling the blaze and residents are being asked to avoid the area and close their windows and doors.

A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Firefighters are currently in attendance at a fire in an industrial unit on the High Street in Tremadog.

“North Wales Fire and Rescue Service were called to the incident at 11.23am this morning (Wednesday, 23February).

“Appliances from Porthmadog, Harlech, Nefyn, Pwllheli and Dolgellau along with the Aerial Ladder Platform from Rhyl are in attendance.”

Paul Scott, Senior Fire Safety Manager added: “We are advising people to keep windows and doors shut whilst our crews are dealing with this incident and to stay well away from the area for your own safety whilst firefighters are tackling the fire.”

North Wales Police also confirmed that the High Street in Tremadog is currently closed due to the fire.

North Wales Police De Gwynedd posted on social media: “Please note that the A498 (Tremadog High Street) is closed due to a fire at the Garden Craft. The Fire Brigade are at the scene. Please avoid the area during this time.”
