A SECOND crime spree has rocked Meirionnydd businesses as thousands of pounds worth of equipment has been stolen from several properties.

North Wales Police is asking communities in the region to remain alert and report suspicious behaviour immediately after a spate of crimes were reported early last week.

Sometime overnight between Monday, 25 and Tuesday, 26 July five crimes were reported around the Dinas Mawddwy and Llanaber areas which police believe are linked.

An attempted theft of a quad bike and tools took place in Dinas Mawddwy whilst there was a theft of a tipper truck, diesel and power tools from two locations in Llanaber.

A quad bike was also stolen from a farm in Dolgellau and a generator stolen from a layby on the A494 in Rhydymaen.

It is Meirionnydd’s second crime wave in only a matter of months after two men from Pontypool were jailed for stealing cars, power tools, a moped, cash and other items in the raids at Talsarnau, Llanbedr, Bontddu and Porthmadog, in early April.

Sergeant Neil Jones said: “Investigating Officers are eager to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour or activity.

“Initial enquiries point towards the suspicious behaviour of the occupants of a silver Vauxhall Zephyr and white Ford Fiesta which were seen in the area."

North Wales Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed events. You can contact them on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting RC 1611 0074.
