A LAMB has miraculously survived after apparently being cruelly shot through the head by a crossbow.

The defenceless animal was targeted on Saturday, 23 April at Cwm Bowydd farm, near Blaenau Ffestiniog, which is run by brothers David and Bleddyn Lloyd-Thomas.

David told the Cambrian News that it was his brother who made the shocking discovery, but said there was no evidence left nearby as to what was shot through the lamb’s head.

He said: “When my brother found the lamb it was in a lot of pain and it had a hole in its head which had gone through to the other side.

“We immediately treated the lamb which has since been on antibiotics and is making a slow recovery – it’s a miracle it’s still alive.

“I believe it was shot with a bow, but there was no evidence of a weapon nearby, but that is the only thing that would cause this sort of damage.

“We are horrified that someone has done this, we can’t understand why anyone would want to do this to a defenceless animal."

Anyone who may have information in regards to this incident is asked to contact the North Wales Police Rural Crime Team on 101.
