CHARITY supporters have blasted heartless thieves who stole a charity box of donations for terminally ill children from Aberystwyth’s Plascrug Leisure Centre.
The charity box, which was raising money for Wales’ children’s hospice Ty Hafan was stolen from the leisure centre between 17 July and 10 August. It is not known how much money was inside the box.
Police are appealing for witnesses or information and a local fund-raiser said it was “disgusting” that someone would steal money being donated to help terminally ill children.
Clare Phillips, who has had to abandon a three-event fund-raising challenge after completing her first event, because she has broken her leg, said she was shocked that anyone would decide to steal the charity box.
Clare has already raised around £500 with support from work colleagues at Store 21 and a local café, and said her workmates would also be outraged.
She said: “That is disgusting. I’m speechless. I can’t believe someone would do something like that. They obviously don’t have any morals.
“It’s very shocking and I’m sure everyone who works with me at Store 21 would agree. The staff here have been excellent and helped me to raise the money."
