A SPECIAL open day is to be held at Aberystwyth’s new £1m fire station ahead of its official opening in October.
Work on the station in Trefechan, which will also be used by community groups, has just been completed.
It will be officially opened on 13 October by Welsh Government Cabinet secretary for communities and children, Carl Sargeant.
But before then, an open day will be held on Saturday, 3 September, to give local people the chance to see the new facility.
The open day will include a play fire engine, a display by the Swift Water Rescue Team, a shop in a box, as well as a community safety staff to provide help and advice to the public.
Arwel James, the Ceredigion response manager, said: “This is a wonderful new facility for the fire service and the community to utilise. We’re looking forward to welcoming the public to our open day on 3 September as it’s an excellent opportunity for us to show how the new building will serve, not only the fire service, but also the community of Aberystwyth.”
