A BUSINESSWOMAN has been banned from driving for six months after admitting to doing in excess of 70mph on a dual carriageway.
Rhian Parry, of Sarn Mellteryn, was caught speeding in her Volvo on the A470 at Aberfan, near Merthyr Tydfil, on Friday, 2 October, last year.
The 53-year-old B&B owner admitted to the offence but requested a hearing to allow her to put forward mitigating circumstances that might prevent her from being disqualified from driving.
She had accrued 12 points on her licence.
Parry told the court that she lives on a working farm and has to travel regularly to Cardiff, Liverpool and London because of family commitments.
Magistrates, however, deemed that a ban was appropriate.
The defendant was also fined £170.
