Once again Stormy Stan drew in the crowds to the Lifeboat Station on the promenade for Barmouth RNLI’s annual fun day on Sunday, 18 August.
The all-weather lifeboat, Ella Larsen, was on display out on the beach and, on a breezy Sunday, locals and holidaymakers came along to enjoy the games, and to grab a bargain at the many stalls.
Home-baked cakes and refreshments were available and once again the tasty barbecue lunch was popular.
The Cox in the Stocks was a favourite again this year, with children (and adults!) queuing up to soak the long-suffering Coxswain/Mechanic Rob Williams with wet sponges!
The RNLI Face to Face team were in attendance and there was much interest in the Community Safety Officer’s stall set up for the Respect the Water Campaign, where information and advice was available to encourage people to enjoy the coast, but to be aware of the power of the sea and how to stay safe.
Thanks to the tireless dedication of fundraisers and the crew, and to the generosity of the public, a magnificent £2,163.18 was raised on the day.
Barmouth RNLI would like to thank the many local shops for their continued generosity, especially those who kindly donated bottles and gifts for the tombola stalls.
Thanks also are due to all those faithful visitors, some of whom are seen every year, for their continued support for this worthy cause to help save lives at sea.
