AN ABERYSTWYTH man, who says he has issues with alcohol, has admitted stealing from a shop twice in the space of three days.

Andrew Raymond John Scott, of Room 3, 18 Portland Road, admitted two charges of theft from Spar on 21 and 24 July.

He has been given a suspended prison sentence after magistrates in Aberystwyth heard that he had also failed to comply with a community order imposed after he admitted taking his father’s car without consent in February this year.

Scott said he’d been “stupid” and was planning on “changing his ways”.

But he admitted that he had been struggling with issues involving alcohol.

Magistrates heard last Wednesday that Scott, 22, had already breached the community order once, but had also missed three appointments with the probation service between 23 and 30 July.

Following a report by the probation service, Scott’s current community order was revoked and a new 12-month suspended prison sentence of 18 weeks was imposed.

Scott will have to complete 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days, 50 hours of unpaid work and a nine-month drug rehabilitation order.

He was also ordered to pay costs totalling £310 and compensation of £9.
