A casualty trapped in water after suffering an ankle injury has been rescued by Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team.

The team received word of the incident, near Garndolbenmaen, at 2pm yesterday (18 May).

The casualty was unable to move and in urgent need of rescue.

A spokesperson for Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team said: “The team were alerted shortly after 2pm to assist a casualty who had suffered an ankle injury near the village of Garndolbenmaen.

“The casualty has suffered an unfortunate slip near a river sustaining a suspected broken ankle, rendering them unable to move.

“To complicate matters further, the casualty was completely surrounded by water on all sides.

“Several team members were deployed who waded to the casualty’s location to render medical aid.

“The casualty was then successfully extricated to the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust who were waiting nearby.

“We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.”
